"Chipmunk Golf serves up an Ace"

Chipmunk Golf celebrated its first annual Invitational event on Sunday 19 May 2002 and proved to be a great success. The event was held at Park Hill Golf and Leisure, Seagrave, Leicestershire and included a field of some 218 players from various Golf Clubs throughout the Midlands. The format for the day was Pairs Betterball Stableford off ¾ Handicap, and not surprisingly, there were some outstanding scores.

It made for a long day as the first group Tee'd off at 07.07am and the last group at 14.55pm, and luckily the weather held out against all the odds. Due to the overwhelming support Chipmunk Golf will be hosting another event later in the year.

Luffield Cars of Loughborough kindly sponsored Hole-in-Ones on all Par 3s with a special prize of a new MG ZR Car for an ace on the 200yd 11th Hole. Unfortunately a car was not won but there was a few near misses. However, a Hole-in-One was recorded on the 6th Hole by Steve Cook a member at Park Hill whose 160yd shot earned himself a new set of Cobra Irons. Well done Steve and good luck with the Clubs.

Due to the large field Chipmunk Golf were able to offer an excellent prize table to reward those Golfers who performed well on the day with major prizes down to 5th place.

" Tour De France "

Although Chipmunk Golf ™ is in its infancy for introducing Golf Societies to the A-Z directory, we have already achieved success in organising a competitive event for two local societies.
The event was a four day affair in northern France, playing at courses in Hardelot and Le Touquet. Two teams of ten playing in four balls on four different courses battled it out for the right to hold the "Ryder Cup" prize.
The event was played in "Ryder Cup" format with each team playing to score points that would accumulate over the four days.
The eventual winners ( Todd County Boys ) beat their opponents ( Webb City Boys ) by 1 point, with the final score being 13-12. As can happen in the "Ryder Cup" it all came down to the last few groups on the final day which made for a very exciting finish!!
